How To Create Branding Photos for a New Business // Eye-catching Images for Franklin Vision Care
Dr. Annedrea Morreale, recently opened Franklin Vision Care to provide boutique eye care and luxury frames to the residents of Tennessee. Like any new business, Dr. Morreale needed photos to showcase her space, her staff, and her inventory.
When creating branding images for a business, especially one just getting started, it's important to talk with your client and discover all the ways the images may, or may potentially, be used. In Dr. Morreale's case, she wanted images that could be used primarily online for her website and social media. She also wanted to have a handful of images that can be used in Print advertisements to help promote the business.
Not only is Dr. Morreale bright and inviting, so is her space and her staff! When working on branding images, you may want to have a checklist handy to ensure you are capturing everything that needs to be photographed, and even variations. Knowing that we were shooting for both digital and Print, I consciously photographed multiple of the same look/setup but varied my angle and crop. This would allow for images to incorporate text in Print ads, and the slight variations would provide consistent alternatives to other images the practice would be using on social media.
Lighting for this shoot consisted primarily of the gorgeous natural light flooding in from the large windows and paired with one flash unit. My main light, modified with a large umbrella and diffusion fabric, was placed camera left about 45 degrees from my subject. This large spread of light gave use the open airy look we were wanting. For select shots, I simply bounced my light, bare bulb with no modifier, onto various walls of the room to fill in some of the shadows. Curious about bouncing light?
